How Deliberation Affects Stated Willingness to Pay for Mitigation of Carbon Dioxide Emissions: An Experiment
نویسندگان
چکیده
Respondents reported willingness to pay (WTP) for mitigating carbon dioxide emissions after structured group discussion or without this deliberation. Deliberation did not affect mean or median WTP, but it increased the number of issues respondents considered, with some issues becoming more frequently considered and others less. Surveyonly respondents considered issues relevant for responding to a request for a charitable contribution; group-mode participants considered issues relevant for a public policy assessment. Findings suggest that ordinary citizens can offer valid input to environmental policy decisions, but that framing effects in ordinary WTP surveys may prevent them from providing such input. Willingness to Pay of Air Passengers for Carbon-Offset
An important source of anthropogenic greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions is the air transport sector, which accounts for approximately 2% of global GHG emissions. Therefore, reducing GHG emissions from aircrafts has become a major challenge for transportation authorities worldwide. In recent years, much research has focused on tax ideas related to the CO2 emissions produced by air transport, such as...

متن کاملFood Products Based on Carbon Dioxide Emissions? Evidence from a Buying Experiment in Japan
This study investigates how consumers value carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions of food by conducting a choice experiment before an ecolabel is attached on some foods in Japan. Participants are asked to buy some Satsuma mandarin oranges based on price and CO2 emissions and take them home. The following results are obtained: (i) the willingness-to-pay (WTP) estimate for the reduction of 1 g CO2 emiss...

Abstract: The gradual warming of the earth and its negative environmental and economic impacts contributed to pay attention to sustainable development considerably. Since climate change is a major cause of greenhouse gas emissions, including CO2, countries are seeking to prevent the rapid growth of emissions to reduce global climate change. Accordingly, and considering the importance of the sub...
